MetaMask Exits Lido Validators Amid Security Incident
MetaMask Staking has exited its Ethereum validators in the Lido protocol due to a security incident. The move was announced on Lido's research forum, where MetaMask operates validators alongside other node operators.
Lido acts as an intermediary between users who deposit ETH and the actual node operators that manage those deposits. Users receive stETH, a token tied to their staked position and rewards. MetaMask not only runs validators but also provides staking interfaces connected to Lido.
The process of exiting validators typically takes 15 to 45 days for Lido validators, allowing the protocol time to redistribute funds smoothly.
