MetaMask Exits Validators Amid Security Incident
MetaMask is dealing with a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure. The company shared the update on Wednesday, stating that there is no immediate threat to MetaMask wallets.
As a precautionary measure, MetaMask is exiting affected validators in its non-custodial staking operations. This move is being done in coordination with clients and partners, and it's expected to take up to 45 days due to a long entry queue of validators waiting to join the network.
MetaMask manages over three billion dollars in staked Ether through its systems, making it one of the largest gateways for people who want to stake Ethereum. The company has not shared a timeline for when the underlying infrastructure issue will be fully resolved and is working with outside partners and security advisors to fix the cause of the incident.
