MetaMask Incident Drives Ethereum Validator Exit Queue Surge
Ethereum's validator exit queue has seen a significant surge in recent days, peaking at nearly 850,000 ETH waiting to be withdrawn. This represents a 392% increase from the beginning of October, with an estimated 14.77-day wait time for validators.
The main contributor to this increase is MetaMask Staking's decision to preemptively exit around 523,000 ETH due to an infrastructure breach. This move has led to a strong connection between MetaMask and Lido operations.
Litecoin mining pool founder Jiang Zhuoer notes that the surge in the queue suggests some holders are locking in profits at current prices, with little price movement observed during this time frame.
