MetaMask Partners with Banxa for Fee-Cutting VietQR Integration
MetaMask wallets in Vietnam can now be funded directly through VietQR, the country's dominant QR payment standard, via payment processor Banxa. This integration leverages NAPAS, Vietnam's national payment network, which processes around 15 million transfers daily.
The fee reduction is significant, with card-based crypto purchases typically costing around 7% in fees. In contrast, VietQR-funded transactions will cost an estimated 3%, a difference that compounds quickly for active traders and regular buyers.
During a promotional period running from July 20 to August 20, 2026, select wallets like Bitget are offering 0% fees on VietQR-funded transactions. After the window closes, the fee settles at 3%. A user making $500 in monthly crypto purchases would save roughly $240 annually at the 3% rate compared to cards.
The integration is part of Banxa's efforts to expand its presence in Vietnam's growing crypto market. The country ranks fourth globally in cryptocurrency adoption, with an estimated 17-20 million users and a total crypto valuation of $220 billion in 2025.
