MetaMask announced a security incident affecting part of its infrastructure and began withdrawing its Ethereum validators from Lido as a precautionary measure.

The company stated that it has identified no immediate threat to wallets, but the origin and extent of the compromise remain unknown.

MetalStaking will withdraw the last ETH validators by October 7, with a possible return cycle of up to 45 days due to the validator queue.

For stETH holders, no action is necessary, but MetaMask may experience a temporary drop in rewards and penalties related to validator unavailability are possible if some go offline before their full withdrawal.
