MetaMask Staking Exits Lido Validators Amid Infrastructure Probe
MetaMask Staking is temporarily exiting its Ethereum validators from Lido as part of an ongoing investigation into an infrastructure intrusion. This precautionary measure may lead to a reduction in rewards for stakers, and taking validators offline could result in downtime penalties.
The validator exits are expected to continue until the end of October 7th, marking the completion of the last batch of exits. However, this date does not signify the end of the withdrawal process, which may take up to 45 days due to extended queue times.
MetaMask Staking emphasizes that it is a noncustodial staking operation and therefore does not hold withdrawal keys for customers. This means that holders of Lido's staked Ether token (stETH) do not need to take any action as a result of this incident.
