MetaMask Withdraws Validators from Lido Amid Infrastructure Breach Investigation

MetaMask Staking is withdrawing Ethereum validators from Lido after an infrastructure breach investigation. The withdrawal process affects Ethereum validators operated by MetaMask Staking through the Lido protocol. This move may lead to a loss of staking rewards for some users.

The full withdrawal is expected to be completed by October 7, but the current pace suggests that it may take around 45 days in total due to a long Ethereum validator-entry queue. Validators taken offline during this process could incur downtime penalties as the operator works to reduce potential network risks.

Lido assures holders of its staked Ether (stETH) token that they do not need to take any action, and withdrawn Ether will gradually return to the protocol after validators complete their exit, withdrawal, and re-entry cycles.
