Metaplanet Doubles Down on Bitcoin with Record-Setting Acquisition
Metaplanet, a Japanese Bitcoin-focused company, has made another large acquisition of digital assets. According to on-chain data from Lookonchain, Metaplanet recently moved 1,350 BTC worth approximately $108 million into Coinbase Prime.
This transfer brings the total value of Metaplanet's treasury to around $3.48 billion with its holding of 43,000 BTC. This acquisition is one of the largest corporate purchases in the world and was made at an average price point of $96,191 per BTC, indicating that it occurred during Bitcoin's recent bull market.
Coinbase Prime is a platform commonly used by asset managers, corporations, institutional investors, and public companies for custody, execution, and treasury services. While transfers to Coinbase Prime do not necessarily imply a sell order, they can be indicative of large trading and processing amounts.
The latest transfer highlights the growing trend of corporate Bitcoin adoption, with more publicly listed companies dedicating part of their balance sheets to Bitcoin. This development underscores the expanding role of regulated crypto infrastructure providers in supporting large corporate treasuries.
