Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings to 44,000 BTC
Metaplanet has expanded its Bitcoin holdings to 44,000 BTC, securing its position as the world’s second-largest publicly listed Bitcoin treasury company as of September 30. The company added 1,000 BTC net during the third quarter, solidifying its standing in the market.
To achieve this growth, Metaplanet sold Bitcoin exceeding the principal on its bonds, borrowings, and other interest-bearing debt. It then repurchased more BTC than it had sold, though the exact amounts were not disclosed.
The company also unveiled a net interest income strategy designed to generate recurring revenue and lower capital costs. This strategy builds on Metaplanet’s earlier Bitcoin accumulation, which included holding 1,018.17 BTC in October 2024, when it was the second-largest corporate Bitcoin holder in Asia.
