Metaplanet Expands Bitcoin Holdings to 44,000 BTC and Launches New Income Plan
Metaplanet, Asia’s largest Bitcoin treasury company, has added another 1,000 BTC to its holdings, bringing its total to 44,000 coins. The purchase, announced on October 5, 2026, marks a significant increase from the 30,823 BTC the company held in September 2025. CEO Simon Gerovich emphasized that the company’s strategy goes beyond mere accumulation, aiming to establish itself as a leading Bitcoin financial institution globally.
Gerovich also highlighted the liquidity of Metaplanet’s BTC reserves, stating that the company has sold enough Bitcoin to cover its outstanding debt obligations. This demonstrates the firm’s ability to convert its holdings to cash without disrupting its long-term accumulation plans. The latest purchase reinforces Metaplanet’s commitment to a steady Bitcoin accumulation strategy.
In a move to diversify its revenue streams, Metaplanet unveiled a new Net Interest Income Strategy. This initiative is designed to generate recurring revenue from financial operations, reducing the company’s effective cost of capital. The strategy aligns with Metaplanet’s broader goal of building a comprehensive Bitcoin-focused financial business.
Meanwhile, Bitcoin’s price has remained stable above $80,000 since September 18, 2026, showing a marginal increase of 0.98% in the last 24 hours. Despite Metaplanet’s substantial purchase, BTC has only seen modest gains of 4% and 8% over the past week and month, respectively.
