Metaplanet Slows Bitcoin Buys as US Giant Boosts Stake

Metaplanet's fortunes have taken a divergent path in recent times. While the Japanese firm has significantly reduced its Bitcoin buying, one of America's largest asset managers has increased its stake in the company.

Capital Research and Management Company, the Capital Group unit, now holds 136,059,120 shares, having added roughly 17.4 million securities worth approximately $203 million to its portfolio.

The fund manager's voting stake in Metaplanet has grown from 9.32 percent to 10.63 percent, making it the company's largest shareholder.
