Metaplanet to Allocate 85% to 90% of Assets to Bitcoin
Metaplanet, a company that manages digital assets, has announced a revised capital allocation policy. According to this policy, around 85% to 90% of its total assets will be allocated to Bitcoin (BTC). This move is part of Metaplanet's Net Interest Income Strategy, which aims to invest in assets expected to generate returns above their financing costs. The company will use borrowing, perpetual preferred shares, and BitBonds as funding sources.
The policy also sets aside 10% to 15% of assets for mergers and acquisitions, income-generating assets, and asset management. Metaplanet aims to keep borrowing tied to holding or adding to its BTC position at about 10% of Bitcoin's net asset value or less. As of September 30, the company held 44,000 BTC.
This revised policy is a significant shift in Metaplanet's investment strategy. By devoting a large portion of its assets to Bitcoin, the company is demonstrating its confidence in the cryptocurrency's potential for growth.
