Metaplex Introduces MPL-3643 Standard for Permissioned Assets on Solana
Metaplex has introduced MPL-3643, a new on-chain standard for Solana that enables the issuance of permissioned real-world assets (RWAs) and tokenized securities. This standard supports issuer-sponsored tokenization and includes compliance controls such as transfer restrictions, lockup periods, verified-wallet requirements, and jurisdictional limits.
MPL-3643 is built on Solana's existing infrastructure and provides native issuance infrastructure for permissioned assets. Permissioned assets created under this standard are designed to maintain interoperability with Solana's broader wallet and DeFi ecosystem.
Metaplex has published technical documentation for the standard, but notes that it has not yet undergone a full security audit. The company is currently offering limited-access Alpha on Solana mainnet, with early access available to issuers, tokenized securities platforms, tokenization providers, and developers.
