Metaplex Launches MPL-3643 Standard for Solana Tokenization
Metaplex, a leading tokenization platform on Solana, has launched MPL-3643, a standard for tokenization that enables the compliant issuance and management of permissioned real-world assets and tokenized securities on Solana. The standard addresses the challenges of issuing regulated assets on public blockchains by providing customizable tools for issuers to issue permissioned assets directly on Solana, adapting to requirements across jurisdictions.
MPL-3643 embeds customizable rules for transfer restrictions, lockup periods, and jurisdiction limits directly into the asset. It also integrates with trusted identity partners and the Solana Attestation Service, allowing investors to reuse their verification across different MPL-3643 token issuers, reducing the need to provide the same information repeatedly. These rules are enforced programmatically at the token level, applying the issuer's configured eligibility and transfer restrictions.
Stephen Hess, founder of Metaplex, stated, 'To bring financial markets onchain, we need compliance infrastructure without sacrificing Solana's composability or promise of open markets.' MPL-3643 provides the underlying infrastructure to bring permissioned real-world assets onchain, built around issuer controls, programmable transfer restrictions, and verified-wallet access.
