Meta's personal AI agent, Muse, has generated over 900,000 downloads in its first week. The company claims that Muse was built from scratch, but admitted to being 'heavily inspired' by OpenClaw, an open-source, self-hosted agent framework.
Nat Friedman, head of product at Meta Superintelligence Labs, confirmed the similarities between the two projects, including workspace file structures and agent architectures. However, he maintained that no code was directly copied.
Muse works across a dedicated iOS and Android app, a web interface, and WhatsApp, handling tasks like sending emails and booking travel. Pricing starts at a free tier, with paid subscriptions at $20/month and $100/month for more capable versions.
The market reaction to Muse's debut was positive, with META shares surging 11.4% following coverage of the launch. This highlights the potential of AI-powered products in the consumer market.
