Meta's Muse Checkout Partnership Sends Shopify Stock Soaring
Shopify and Meta have announced a new partnership that will allow Meta's AI agent Muse to complete purchases at Shopify stores using Shop Pay. This integration is seen as a major boost for both companies, with SHOP stock jumping 7.3% on Monday following the news.
According to Shopify CEO Tobi Lütke, the integration is 'easy and delightful' and will offer customers an 'easy and delightful way to shop and check out with Muse.' Meta's Chief AI Officer Alexandr Wang also highlighted the importance of giving Muse users access to a wide range of stores to find 'the absolute perfect products.'
Deutsche Bank analysts have weighed in on the partnership, stating that it reinforces Shopify's core strengths rather than threatening its business. They noted that the deal actually shows the opposite of what some may think - that agentic AI shopping could disrupt Shopify's model.
