MiCA Register Surpasses 320 Entries Amid Traditional Finance Expansion
The European Union's crypto regulatory framework has reached a new milestone as the MiCA register of authorized firms surpassed 320 entries. This growth comes from traditional financial institutions moving into digital assets alongside native crypto companies.
According to the ESMA update, four French firms secured authorization: Finary, Woorton, Blockchain Process Security, and Shares Financial Assets. These additions strengthen France's position as one of the bloc's most active jurisdictions for crypto licensing.
Three German cooperative banks also joined the list: Volksbank Raiffeisenbank Oberbayern Südost, VR Bank Schleswig-Holstein Mitte, and VR-Bank Landau-Mengkofen. This expansion marks a significant shift of traditional finance into the regulated crypto space.
The register's growth highlights a structural feature of the MiCA framework: banks and e-money institutions can offer equivalent services through a lighter route than dedicated crypto companies. This tracks traditional lenders adding digital asset desks as closely as it does legacy exchanges completing their paperwork.
