Michigan Data Center Noise Sparks Concern Ahead of Resumed Operations

A data center in Dowagiac, Michigan, has become a source of frustration for neighbors due to its noisy operations. The facility, owned by Hyperscale Data Inc., used fans to cool its equipment and was previously involved in Bitcoin mining.

The noise from the data center prompted the town to amend its noise pollution ordinance at the behest of Mayor Patrick Bakeman. However, the issue persists as the facility prepares to resume operations in November, this time supporting artificial intelligence computing.

Billy and Marjorie Finn, who live across the street from the data center, captured a video on their Ring camera showing Hyperscale Data's chief marketing officer, John F. Stewart, ringing their doorbell in August.

The Finns expressed skepticism about the prospect of reduced noise levels when operations resume, stating they would believe it 'when we see it, and don't hear it.' Their video has gone viral on social media platforms, garnering over 4.1 million views.
