MicroStrategy Surpasses S&P 500 Financials in Reserve Capital
MicroStrategy has surpassed all S&P 500 financial companies in reserve capital except Berkshire Hathaway, according to CEO Michael Saylor. This boast is based on a metric called Total Reserve Capital, which MicroStrategy uses but is not recognized by standard accounting standards. The company's total reserve capital stands at $72.3 billion, with $65.2 billion of that coming from 845,050 BTC, purchased over the past two years.
The first Bitcoin buy in August 2020 was for $250 million and now has a value of about $65.2 billion. MicroStrategy resumed buying on August 31 after a 10-week pause with 4,603 coins for $370 million. In addition to these assets, the company holds $6.7 billion in dollar assets.
Phong Le, Chief Executive, stated that the company now has more total reserve capital than every financial services company in the S&P 500 except Berkshire Hathaway. He also mentioned that MicroStrategy's net leverage is zero and that they are back to buying BTC.
