MicroStrategy's MSTR Stock Surges 3% on Latest Share Sale
MicroStrategy's MSTR stock surged 3% on Monday as the company continued to raise cash through sales of its own shares. The company sold 3.46 million shares of common stock between Aug. 10 and Aug. 16, generating approximately $333.7 million in net proceeds.
The proceeds from this latest share sale were allocated across three areas: funding dividends on preferred stock, repurchasing STRC shares under its Digital Credit Securities Repurchase Program, and adding to the company's USD Reserve. The reserve reached approximately $4.8 billion following the latest transaction, providing MicroStrategy with a larger liquidity cushion as it manages its financing obligations.
MicroStrategy has been using equity markets to strengthen its liquidity position while maintaining its long-term Bitcoin treasury strategy. Despite facing increased scrutiny over its valuations and market structure, institutional interest in Bitcoin treasury companies remains. Norway's sovereign wealth fund increased its indirect Bitcoin exposure to a record 11,549 BTC in the first half of the year, with MicroStrategy holdings accounting for 86% of that exposure.
