Midnight Mainnet Smart Contract Support Nears Launch with Private Token Minting
Midnight Foundation has announced that it is preparing to deploy smart contract support on its mainnet, marking a significant milestone for the privacy-focused blockchain.
The update will include private smart contracts and allow users to mint private tokens, similar to Zcash. This feature has attracted growing interest in the network, particularly from institutional players seeking on-chain solutions.
According to Sebastien Guillemo, Midnight's CTO, the next version of smart contracts will come with additional features, including events and composability. This will enable the development of more complex DeFi applications, such as Aave lending protocol.
The privacy narrative has been a strong driver for Midnight's growth, and some analysts believe it may spill over to its native token, NIGHT, which has already seen a 30% price increase this week.
