Midnight Smart Contracts Nearing Mainnet Deployment with New Upgrade

Midnight smart contracts are nearing deployment on the mainnet, according to Cardano developer Sebastien Guillemot. This development will enable applications to be built using the network's privacy features, including private custom tokens and minting.

Charles Hoskinson pointed out that Midnight is undergoing a major upgrade that will also turn on apps, in addition to RealFi and Pogen projects expected to launch soon. The update has sparked interest in the Cardano community, with some members calling for more practical applications to drive adoption.
