Midterm Elections Could Spark Next Bitcoin Sell-Off
Crypto analyst Ali Martinez has warned that Bitcoin could face renewed selling pressure following the upcoming U.S. midterm elections in November.
According to Martinez, historical price declines have followed previous midterm votes, with Bitcoin falling by 72%, 65%, 52%, and 27% after the 2010, 2014, 2018, and 2022 elections, respectively.
Martinez notes that these declines do not necessarily prove that elections cause price drops, but he believes it's a pattern worth monitoring as the 2026 election approaches.
The analyst also points out that Bitcoin's fourth-quarter performance has been mixed in the past, with prices surging by 391% in Q4 2010 but falling by 16.70%, 42.16%, and 14.75% in Q4 2014, Q4 2018, and Q4 2022, respectively.
Martinez warns that the start of the fourth quarter could bring heightened volatility for Bitcoin investors, and predicts that if the post-midterm pattern repeats, the $73,000 level could emerge as a potentially important area to watch.
