Mina Network Restart Completed, But zkApps Remain on Hold

Mina's network restart has been completed, but deployed zkApps are still waiting for Mesa-compatible verification keys to resume proof-authorized activity. The Mina network was paused for about eight hours on September 3 as it shifted mainnet to its Mesa release, a major upgrade that halves slot time from three minutes to 90 seconds and temporarily caps zkApp transactions at 12 per block.

Exchanges suspended MINA transfers during the pause, which lasted from 10:00 UTC to 15:00 UTC. Mina instructed exchanges to disable MINA deposits and withdrawals until the Mesa network became operational, although each exchange controls when its transfer support resumes.

The upgrade also changed protocol constants and circuit constraints, so proofs made against pre-upgrade verification keys no longer verify. zkApps need o1js 3.0 verification keys before they can process new proof-authorized transactions, which will resume once the key is updated on-chain.
