Miners Find Rare Relief as September Revenue Surges
Bitcoin miners are breathing a sigh of relief after September's strong revenue. According to data from newhedge.io, this month was one of the best for mining revenue since January, with earnings totaling just $1.12 billion shy of that record-breaking month.
The recent rally in Bitcoin has boosted mining revenue, with hashprice - a measure of the value generated by 1 petahash per second (PH/s) - reaching a 30-day high of $41.51. Hashprice has been hovering around $40 per PH/s for most of the month.
The modest reduction in difficulty adjustment, at just 0.03%, is also providing welcome breathing room for miners. The network's difficulty now stands at 132.72 trillion, and block intervals are averaging around ten minutes and 48 seconds. However, with another adjustment expected on October 18th, this could change over the next two weeks.
While the year has seen a net decline of -11.96% in mining revenue, thanks to eight increases totaling +33.34% being outweighed by 11 reductions amounting to -45.30%, miners are cautiously optimistic about the prospects for the remainder of the year.
