Minnesota Banning Crypto ATMs Statewide on August 1

The state of Minnesota has announced that it will be banning cryptocurrency ATMs (crypto ATMs) statewide, effective August 1. This move comes after authorities investigated 134 complaints related to the machines from 2023 to 2025, resulting in resident losses reaching approximately $1 million.

The ban applies only to physical crypto ATMs and does not affect online platforms or exchanges where residents can trade cryptocurrencies through regulated means.

According to the new law, all crypto ATMs in Minnesota must cease operations immediately on August 1 and be removed from stores and other locations by the end of 2026. The measure aims to prevent the misuse of crypto ATMs in financial fraud.
