Pump.fun Lays Off Employees Ahead of PUMP Token Vesting Date
Pump.fun, a platform behind the PUMP token, laid off employees in early April, just two months before the token's vesting date. According to a report by Sandmark, this move resulted in at least one former employee losing a significant amount of money due to their allocated tokens being affected.
The reason for these job cuts was attributed to Pump.fun expanding too quickly, according to an internal meeting where co-founder Noah Tweedale shared his thoughts with employees. This is not the first round of layoffs, as the platform reportedly conducted another round in mid-July, bringing the total workforce reduction over two months to more than 40 employees.
Sandmark could not independently verify the reported number of layoffs. Pump.fun's co-founders did not respond to requests for comment on this matter.
