Mirae Asset Targets $109 Billion in Digital Asset Business
Mirae Asset Financial Group is setting its sights on building a massive digital asset business centered around Digital X, formerly known as Korbit. Park Hyeon-joo, founder and chairman of Mirae Asset, announced the goal to build a $109 billion digital asset business by leveraging the group's 1,500 trillion won in client assets.
The company aims to turn its digital asset business profitable by 2027 and is considering injecting up to 300 billion won in additional capital. Digital X will focus on four key areas: crypto, stablecoins, real-world assets, and security token offerings. Park also mentioned that the company plans to tokenize physical assets such as gold, silver, and electricity.
Mirae Asset may pursue a third-party allotment of 200 billion to 300 billion won in the first quarter of next year, depending on the pace of earnings improvement. The long-term goal is to build a global platform that brings traditional and digital assets under one roof, with Digital X at its center.
