Missouri Men Charged in Cryptocurrency Theft Scheme Linked to Florida Crew

Three men from Missouri have been charged in connection with a cryptocurrency robbery scheme that took place in Connecticut two summers ago. Sedric Louis, John Davis, and Martel Williams were indicted on May 22 by a grand jury in New Haven federal court for conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery.

The indictment alleges that the three men traveled to Connecticut from St. Louis to plan a robbery and abduction of a teenage Bitcoin owner. However, they never carried out the crime. Instead, they left the state after allegedly stalking the target and his parents for two days.

Prosecutors say the group had acquired rental vehicles and equipment, including air rifles and walkie-talkies. They claimed to have been frustrated with their plan and lack of coordination, fearing they were captured on home surveillance.

The case is linked to a carjacking and kidnapping that gained nationwide attention in 2024. A Florida crew was hired to carry out the attack, which ultimately resulted in six men from Florida being arrested and charged. The Florida men have pleaded guilty, but most of the group awaits sentencing.
