MOEX Expands Crypto Derivatives with XRP Futures Trading
Russia's Moscow Exchange (MOEX) is expanding its trading in cryptocurrency derivatives, including XRP futures. The exchange announced that it will start trading new futures products linked to indices for XRP, Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), and Tron (TRX) on September 22. These products have a daily settlement period with a one-day maturity, and their values are quoted in US dollars but settled in Russian roubles.
The key feature of these products is that they do not involve physical delivery of the underlying cryptocurrency. Instead, contract values are calculated based on price movements in the corresponding index. This means that investors who participate in these futures contracts will only be exposed to changes in the value of the underlying asset, and not to owning it directly.
MOEX's move is part of a trend towards expanding index-based ways to gain exposure to cryptocurrencies. The exchange has seen significant demand for crypto-linked futures since introducing them in the summer of 2025, with over 72,000 qualified investors participating in trades that have topped 600 billion roubles in cumulative volume.
