Moldova Approves Bill Regulating Crypto-Asset Market

Share

The Moldovan Parliament has approved a bill aimed at regulating the country's crypto-asset market.

The document, drafted by the National Bank of Moldova as part of the Association Agreement with the European Union, establishes rules for issuing and offering cryptoassets to investors within Moldova.

Cryptoassets will be categorized into three types: e-money tokens, asset-backed tokens, and other types of digital assets.

The new law requires companies operating in this sector to disclose information about their services, prices, and fees to clients. They must also publish information on the risks and environmental impact of specific cryptoassets.

The bill provides for a division of authority between two financial regulators: the National Commission for Financial Markets will oversee most cryptoasset transactions, while the National Bank will have jurisdiction over e-money tokens.
