Moldova Unveils Crypto Regulation Framework Ahead of March 2027 Launch
Moldova is set to introduce its first comprehensive regulatory framework for the crypto-asset market in March 2027. The new law, published on September 17th, will come into force six months later and aligns with the European Union's MiCA Regulation.
The National Commission for the Financial Market (NCFM) and the National Bank of Moldova will regulate the market, with the latter responsible for electronic money. The NCFM will oversee the remaining segments, including crypto-assets and alternative payments.
Market participants can expect costs associated with authorisation, capital requirements, governance, internal controls, reporting, IT systems, and more. However, these measures aim to legalise the sector and stimulate growth in the crypto-asset and alternative payments markets.
