Monero Holders Face Challenges in Returning to Bitcoin
The process of moving Monero back into Bitcoin is straightforward, but it's also becoming increasingly difficult due to exchange delistings and European regulation.
Since 2024, more than seventy exchanges have removed Monero from their platforms, leaving holders with limited options for exchanging their XMR for BTC. This has made non-custodial swaps the default method for converting back into Bitcoin.
To exchange Monero for Bitcoin, users select the pair, provide a destination address, and send their XMR to the generated deposit address. Settlement typically takes under ten minutes once the Monero transaction confirms.
When converting back to Bitcoin, it's essential to understand that this process moves value from a private ledger to a public one, making the output address publicly visible like any other Bitcoin. While the swap itself remains private, the resulting Bitcoin behaves like any other on the chain.
