Monero Test Network Forks on October 5, FCMP++ and Carrot Project Aims to Enhance Privacy
A network fork is scheduled to occur on October 5, 2026, but it will only affect the test network, known as the beta stressnet, and not the main Monero network.
The fork is part of the FCMP++ (Full-Chain Membership Proofs) project, which aims to enhance the privacy of Monero transactions. The project includes a new addressing protocol called Carrot, which brings additional security, privacy, and usability features while remaining backward compatible with existing addresses.
The test network, which is a deliberately loaded test environment, will fork at block height 3102800, and the rebuild behind it still has no mainnet date. This means that holders of Monero have nothing to do on the day of the fork, and the changeover will not affect the main network or their coins.
The Monero price has remained relatively stable, with a weekly high of $563.50 and a low of $525, and the fork date has not shown up in the price, consistent with the fact that a test network yields no returns and changes no supply.
