Monero Unveils New Stressnet Beta Ahead of Major Privacy Upgrade

Monero has released a new version of its beta stressnet software as it prepares for another major round of testing. The network is gearing up for significant privacy upgrades, specifically with the third version of Monero's beta stressnet for Full-Chain Membership Proofs (FCMP++) and CARROT, set to go live on October 5.

FCMP++ represents a substantial change to Monero's transaction privacy architecture. Unlike its existing system, which uses a limited set of decoy outputs to obscure transactions, FCMP++ expands this approach by allowing an input to prove that it spends one eligible output from the entire set of eligible outputs on the blockchain without identifying which one.

This gives transactions a broader anonymity set while still enabling the network to detect double spending. The Monero team notes that Full-Chain Membership Proofs are designed to eliminate privacy weaknesses associated with selecting smaller decoy sets, and FCMP++ is expected to enable additional functionality, including safer transaction chaining and optional outgoing view keys.
