MoneyGram Brings Global Fiat Access to Solana via Ramps Integration
MoneyGram has launched its Ramps product on the Solana blockchain, expanding access to fiat currencies for developers worldwide. The integration enables cash deposits in over 25 countries and withdrawals in 170+ countries through Solana-based wallets, apps, and exchanges, with USDC as the primary stablecoin.
The launch marks a significant expansion for MoneyGram into Solana's ecosystem, following its earlier role as a validator and infrastructure partner. This partnership cements Solana's positioning as a blockchain tailored for global-scale financial applications.
MoneyGram Ramps allows developers to integrate seamless cash-to-crypto and crypto-to-cash transactions without needing to build proprietary banking or compliance systems. The integration enables Solana-based apps to tap into MoneyGram's vast infrastructure, unlocking new use cases such as cross-border remittances, gig worker payouts, and aid distribution.
The primary stablecoin for bridging digital and fiat currencies is USDC, which mirrors the product's earlier implementations on Stellar. This move could support network growth over time, indirectly benefiting SOL holders, although current market data shows SOL trading at $77.97 as of August 11, 2026, with a slight 24-hour decline of 1.5%.
