MoneyGram Launches USDC-Backed Card in Colombia

MoneyGram has launched its MoneyGram Card in Colombia, which allows customers to hold and spend a USDC-backed stable-dollar balance. The card is initially digital and can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet.

The card connects payment options with MoneyGram's cash-pickup network, enabling users to transfer funds for collection as local currency through MoneyGram locations. This combination gives the product two distinct uses at launch: card payments at Visa merchants and transfers that can be collected in local currency.

MoneyGram plans to extend the card to support its own stablecoin, MGUSD, but USDC is the sole stablecoin named as backing the card at launch. A physical version of the card, including ATM access, is planned for late 2026.
