MoneyGram has unveiled a new stablecoin-backed card that allows users to make everyday purchases using digital dollars. The move is seen as a significant step towards mainstream adoption of cryptocurrencies in traditional spending.

The new card, which uses the USDC (USD Coin) stablecoin issued by Circle, can be used for online and offline transactions at merchants who accept credit or debit cards.

MoneyGram has partnered with Wirex, a UK-based fintech company that provides borderless payment solutions, to launch the new product. The card is available in several countries, including the US, Europe, and Asia.

The introduction of stablecoin-backed cards is seen as a way to make cryptocurrencies more accessible and user-friendly for mainstream consumers. By pegging the value of the digital dollar to the US dollar, users can avoid price volatility associated with traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin or Ethereum.
