MoneyGram Unveils Stablecoin-Backed Visa Card in Colombia

MoneyGram has launched its first stablecoin-backed Visa card in Colombia, allowing users to connect their dollar-linked remittance balance with ordinary card payments at checkout.

The product is an extension of MoneyGram's existing Colombian app, which allowed customers to receive a USDC-backed balance and withdraw pesos through over 6,000 locations. The new card enables recipients to use the balance for retail spending as well.

Colombia received $13.1 billion in remittances in 2025, an increase of 10.6% from 2024. MoneyGram's stablecoin-backed Visa card is a significant move in the country, where the demand for dollar-linked balances is already visible.
