A Mongolian CS2 team has pulled off a stunning upset at FISSURE Playground 3, defeating one of the most storied organizations in esports history. 5star eSports took down Astralis 2-1 in the lower-bracket semifinal, ending their run at the $1 million LAN tournament in Suzhou, China.

Astralis came into the match with uneven form after a narrow win over G2 Esports in the group stage. In contrast, 5star's five-man roster showed composure and believed they belonged, controlling the tempo when it mattered most to close out the deciding map on Cache.

This wasn't even 5star's most notable win of the tournament, as they had already taken down The MongolZ 2-0 in the quarterfinals. With this victory, 5star has shown that they can compete with and outperform their regional peers at the highest level, and potentially translate that dominance against internationally established rosters.
