MoonPay Acquires North Capital for Regulated Securities Expansion

Share

MoonPay, a cryptocurrency payments company, has agreed to acquire North Capital, a private-markets infrastructure provider. The all-stock deal is worth over $60 million and will enable MoonPay to expand into regulated US securities infrastructure.

The acquisition allows MoonPay to issue, custody, and trade private securities, including tokenized securities. North Capital's businesses include broker-dealers, an alternative trading system (ATS), a transfer agent, and an investment adviser, all registered with the SEC.

MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright said the acquisition would help connect parts of the financial system through 'modern, programmable infrastructure.'
