MoonPay, a leading crypto payments company, has acquired North Capital, a private markets investment platform with $9 billion in transaction volume, for over $60 million. The deal is structured entirely in stock and will see North Capital operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of MoonPay once the transaction receives regulatory approval.

North Capital provides technological infrastructure for the tokenization of securities, covering capital raising, asset management, clearing, custody, and secondary trading. Its affiliates hold registrations with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

MoonPay's CEO, Ivan Soto-Wright, explained that the acquisition aims to 'build the regulatory foundation to support the mass adoption of tokenized real-world assets.' The deal is part of MoonPay's expansion strategy, which has seen it bring on DFlow, a Solana-based trading infrastructure provider, and establish its Trade platform.
