MoonPay Expands in South Korea with Won-Backed Stablecoin Infrastructure

Share

MoonPay, a crypto payments company, has officially launched its South Korean subsidiary, MoonPay Korea. This move marks the beginning of its Asian expansion, with Seoul serving as a hub for connecting global payments and stablecoin infrastructure to local banks and financial technology providers.

The company plans to provide infrastructure that enables Korean won-backed stablecoins, facilitating cross-border remittances, payments, settlements, and the global distribution of digital assets. Woori Bank, KB Financial Group, and KakaoBank are among the major Korean financial institutions partnering with MoonPay on different aspects of this initiative.

MoonPay's investment in Finger, a Korean fintech company, is also crucial to its expansion plans. This partnership will combine MoonPay's stablecoin infrastructure with Finger's domestic financial software network, allowing for seamless integration with Korea's existing financial systems.
