MoonPay's PayBox Brings Secure Crypto Transactions to AI Agents

MoonPay's PayBox is now live, allowing users to securely integrate their crypto wallets and payment cards into AI agents like Claude and ChatGPT. This integration enables AI-powered transactions without requiring users to manually log in or share sensitive information.

According to MoonPay CEO Ivan Soto-Wright, 'Billions of AI agents are coming online, and every one of them will need to hold, move, and spend money safely.' PayBox tackles this challenge by providing a secure digital safe that stores both crypto wallets and payment cards, allowing users to approve transactions with a passkey.

The service supports Solana and seven Ethereum-compatible chains at launch, including x402, an open payment protocol backed by Visa, Mastercard, Stripe, Shopify, AWS, and Anthropic. PayBox's infrastructure is built on Sodot's key management technology, which secures over $50 billion in assets and 10 million wallets.

MoonPay emphasizes that PayBox addresses the tradeoff between convenience and control, where existing products often require users to trust a single party with their funds or credentials. With PayBox, no party can unilaterally access user funds or credentials.
