Morgan Stanley Expands Crypto Play with Staking-Enabled Solana ETF

Morgan Stanley has updated its proposed Solana exchange-traded fund (ETF) filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The revised application includes a staking component, which would allow the fund to directly hold Solana and reflect staking rewards in its net asset value.

The proposed ETF, trading under the ticker symbol 'MSOL,' would be listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Arca. Morgan Stanley initially submitted its Solana ETF filing in January this year, marking a push by Wall Street firms into digital assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum products.

Solana's price rose 0.3% over the past 24 hours. Spot Solana exchange-traded funds drew more than $103 million in May inflows, signaling growing demand for SOL exposure. US-listed spot Solana exchange-traded products held roughly $958 million in total net assets as of Tuesday.

Goldman Sachs exited its Solana and XRP ETF positions entirely during the first quarter, despite broader institutional interest in Solana-linked products continuing to expand.
