Morgan Stanley Expands Crypto Suite with Ethereum and Solana ETFs
Morgan Stanley has taken a significant step beyond Bitcoin by launching its first exchange-traded products for Ethereum and Solana. The Morgan Stanley Ethereum Trust (MSSE) and Morgan Stanley Solana Trust (MSOL) began trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) Arca, following the successful launch of the firm’s Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) earlier this year. The Bitcoin Trust, which debuted in April, has already amassed over $381 million in assets under management, setting the stage for this expansion.
The new Ethereum and Solana trusts were registered with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and will have Bank of New York Mellon (BNY) and Coinbase (COIN) Custody Trust Company as trustees. This move reflects the growing institutional interest in diversifying crypto investment products beyond Bitcoin, providing Morgan Stanley’s wealth management network direct exposure to Ethereum and Solana.
As of the latest data, Solana’s price was around $74, down 1.6% in the last 24 hours, while Ethereum was trading at approximately $1,916, down 1.5%. Retail sentiment on Stocktwits has shifted, with Solana moving from ‘neutral’ to ‘bearish’ and Ethereum remaining in the ‘bullish’ zone. Meanwhile, Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) saw a slight decline of over 1% during mid-morning trade.
