Morgan Stanley Eyes Decentralized Finance Vaults for Future Integration
Morgan Stanley has established a Digital Asset Lab to explore decentralized finance (DeFi) applications, including DeFi vaults. The lab will allow the bank to test and understand the technology before integrating it into its wider platform.
The Digital Asset Lab is part of Morgan Stanley's existing network of innovation labs, which provide a secure environment for employees to experiment with emerging technologies. The lab will focus on stablecoins, tokenization, and DeFi applications, including tokenized deposits, central bank digital currencies, and tokenized money market funds.
Morgan Stanley has already launched its Bitcoin ETF, MSBT, in April this year, marking the first spot Bitcoin ETF from a major U.S. bank. The bank's Digital Assets head, Amy Oldenburg, stated that there is a 'very reasonable path' for DeFi vaults to become part of the bank's future.
