Morgan Stanley Reiterates Digital Gold Thesis with Bitcoin Allocation Recommendations
Morgan Stanley's Global Investment Committee has reaffirmed its endorsement of Bitcoin as a digital gold store-of-value, recommending it for inclusion in client portfolios across various risk levels.
The committee's allocation framework suggests a range of 0-2% Bitcoin exposure for balanced growth portfolios and up to 4% for clients with higher risk tolerance.
This recommendation is based on Bitcoin's fixed supply, low current penetration, and its potential as a long-term holding. Morgan Stanley estimates that Bitcoin's market cap represents around 2% of the $130 trillion addressable market defined by global M2 money supply and gold.
The bank has also launched an Exchange-Traded Product called MSBT, which had gathered approximately $609 million in assets under management by September 14, 2026. This move is seen as a concrete manifestation of the committee's thesis on Bitcoin's monetary properties and store-of-value characteristics.
