Morgan Stanley Tackles DeFi Vault Risks with New Digital Asset Lab
Morgan Stanley has established a Digital Asset Lab to test and explore emerging technologies, including decentralized finance (DeFi) vaults. The lab is part of the bank's existing network of innovation labs, which have handled over 270 projects per year.
The new lab will provide a secure environment for testing digital assets such as stablecoins, tokenization, and central bank digital currencies. Amy Oldenburg, head of Morgan Stanley's digital-asset team, emphasized that DeFi vaults are a key focus area, citing their potential to be part of the future.
Oldenburg noted that the technology is still nascent and needs to be understood before it can be integrated into the bank's systems. The lab will allow teams to test these technologies in isolation, reducing the risk of contamination to the rest of the platform.
