Morgan Stanley Taps Digital Asset Lab to Explore Stablecoins and DeFi Solutions
Morgan Stanley has set up an internal Digital Asset Lab to explore and test stablecoins, tokenization, and decentralized finance (DeFi) solutions. The lab will allow the bank to assess potential use cases for these technologies before integrating them into its main infrastructure.
The Digital Asset Lab is a result of Morgan Stanley's growing interest in digital assets, which was highlighted by Amy Oldenburg, the bank's head of digital asset strategy, in an interview with TRM Labs. Oldenburg emphasized the bank's aim to establish a foundational infrastructure to avoid being constrained by outdated systems in the future.
Morgan Stanley has already launched several products and initiatives related to digital assets, including the Stablecoin Reserves Portfolio (MSNXX) and the MSBT, a bitcoin-based exchange product.
